Negara, Bali (ANTARA News)- An earthquake having an intensity of between III and IV MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity) and occurred at around 3 a.m. local time, damaged several houses in Jembrana District, Bali Province.

"I felt the tremors twice. The first tremor was mild, but the second one was very strong. I rushed out of my home while carrying my baby," Farid, an inhabitant of West Tegalbadeng village, Jembrana, said here, Thursday.

The earthquake damaged houses among other things in East Loloan village in Jembrana sub-district, West Loloan in West Jembrana sub-district, and Yehembang village in Mendoyo sub-district.

The tremor also damaged Bentar temple, a police office and an elementary school building in Jembrana.

Meanwhile, based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on its Twitter account @InfoBMKG, the earthquake was recorded at a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter Scale.

The quake`s epicenter was located at 7.42 degrees Latitude, 114.47 degrees Longitude, at a depth of 10 kilometers (km) in Bali Sea, and 61 km northeast of Situbondo, (East Java), and 161 km North West of Denpasar, Bali.

The earthquake did not have potential to trigger a tsunami.
