The assistance was handed over by the Representative Head of TETO, John Chen, to the Acting Chairman of PMI, Ginandjar Kartasasmita, here, on Thursday.
In his remark, Chen extended condolences from President Tsai Ing-wen to the Indonesian government and people, especially to those suffering from the earthquakes and tsunami that hit Palu and Donggala.
The natural disasters resulted in the loss of lives and materials, causing Taiwan to have the same feeling as that of Indonesia.
Previously, on Tuesday (Oct 9), the Taiwanese government and people, in collaboration with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), provided assistance of $500 thousand.
Thus, the total amount from Taiwan`s assistance for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi Province reached US$1 million.
"We hope this assistance can help the victims in Central Sulawesi, and they can immediately return to a normal life," Chen remarked.
According to him, in July 2018, Taiwan also provided assistance of $250 thousand to victims of the earthquake disaster in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
Since the scale of the disaster in Central Sulawesi is quite big, Taiwan, in addition to providing financial assistance, also collected a number of facilities for the victims, which are expected to be immediately distributed by those in need.
