Palu, Central Sulawesi, (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla welcomed UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres at the Mutiara SIS Al Jufrie Airport in Palu, Central Sulawesi, on Friday.

Kalla departed from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base aboard a presidential aircraft and arrived in Palu 20 minutes before Gutteres.

At Palu`s Mutiara SIS Al-Jufrie Airport, the vice president, accompanied by Head of Indonesia`s National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) Willem Rampangilei, Governor of Central Sulawesi Province Longki Djanggola, and members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum of Central Sulawesi, welcomed the UN chief, who arrived from Denpasar.

At the airport, Kalla and Gutteres, World Bank CEO Kristalina Georgieva, and ADB representatives heard the explanation delivered by Indonesia`s BNPB relating to the earthquake and tsunami that hit the province.

The vice president and UN chief are scheduled to observe the affected area in Palu.

Former chief of Aceh and Nias Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency Kuntoro Mangkusubroto was also part of Kalla`s entourage to Palu.
