Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The House of Representatives` (DPR`s) Commission II has requested an investigative auditing of the Papua regional head`s election funds to ensure the correct use of the budget.

This was one of the conclusions conveyed by Deputy Chairperson of Commission II Nihayatul Wafiroh at a working meeting with the General Election Commission (KPU), General Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) and the Ministry of Home Affairs at the DPR building in Jakarta, Tuesday.

During the meeting, Chairman of the General Election Commission Arief Budiman said for the 2017 fiscal year, the election funds amounted to Rp100 billion. As for 2018, they amounted to Rp850 billion.

For 2017, of the Rp100 billion, Rp29.2 billion was used with the remaining Rp71 billion. The use of these funds has been reported. "While for the 2018 fiscal year`s Rp750 billion, it was never reported," he said.

He said that in addition to examining certain objectives the BPK, the KPU internally also carried out checks.

"Indeed, the schedule is only for October 17, so our inspectorate team will go to Papua for the initial inspection," he said.
