Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia strove to encourage discussion on mainstreaming of creative economy issues in the multilateral realm by holding the first World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Oct 6-8.

The WCCE 2018 was commenced by Indonesia`s Creative Economy Agency and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), as stated in a written statement from MoFA received here on Wednesday.

WCCE, as the first global-scale conference on creative economy, is a concrete step by the government of Indonesia to mainstream creative economy issues at the global stage. WCCE was intended to be a platform that bridges the gap between creative industry actors, government, and relevant stakeholders in developing the creative economy.

Bearing the theme of "Inclusively Creative," Indonesia, through WCCE 2018, is keen to convey a message to the world that in the midst of economic uncertainty and trade wars, Indonesia comes up with an innovative idea of developing the creative economy that is crisis-proof and without limitations of age, gender, and borders.

WCCE 2018 is attended by several renowned speakers, including Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Minister of Communication Rudiantara, Emmy Awards Winner`s Director Lisa Russell, CEO of Elevation Barn Will Travis, CEO and Founder of Bolanle Austen-Peter Production Austen-Peter Bolanle, President of the China Film Group Corporation Le Kexi, and CEO and Co-Founder of Moonton (Mobile Legends) Justin Yuan, who will enliven the conference.

The WCCE 2018 held for three days, started with the Friends of Creative Economy Meeting, attended by creative economy stakeholders from various circles, such as academics, business sector, communities, governments, and media. The event also features a Plenary Session in the coming days during which international, regional, and local speakers will share ideas and proposals related to the development of creative economy issues. A memorandum of understanding on creative economy as a result of inclusive collaboration between participants will also be signed.

Moreover, the ministerial meeting was held to gather all representatives from respective countries to discuss and adopt the outcome documents of WCCE 2018. These documents will serve as a landmark in mainstreaming creative economic issues in the multilateral realm.

It was in accordance with the plan to propose the draft resolution on World Creative Economy, which has entered the era of 4.0 at the United Nations General Assembly in the near future.
