Jakarta, Nov 9 (ANTARA News) - The Directorate of Air Transportation of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation will study and evaluate the operational instructions of Boeing 737 Max 8 issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Acting Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Pramintohadi Sukarno, in a written statement received by Antara here on Friday, said the ministry received information from Boeing Co. regarding the issuance of a Flight Crew Operating Manual Bulletin (FCOM).

"FCOM contains actions that must be carried out by pilots when experiencing certain conditions caused by an erroneous input in the Angle of Attack Censor," he said.

Inside the FCOM, Boeing Co. stated that the issuance of FCOM was based on information obtained from the Lion Air JT 610 accident on Tanjung Kerawang waters on October 29, 2018.

Pramintohadi explained that the instruction is an updated version of the existing one.

He added that FCOM was set up based on data obtained from some investigations conducted by the Indonesian National Transportation Accident Committee (KNKT) involving the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the United States and Boeing as the manufacturer.

Pramintohadi noted that earlier, the Directorate General of Air Transportation had established communication with FAA representatives in Singapore regarding the plan to issue an FCOM.

Through a teleconference with the Indonesian Directorate General of Air Transportation, FAA stated that the issuance of FCOM was followed by the Emergency Airworthiness Directive (AD #: 2018-23-51) the International Community or CANIC, as confirmation from the FAA to the regulator in the manufacturer country.

"CANIC mentioned that the issuance of FCOM is based on information obtained from the investigations over the JT 610 Lion Air crash. We have received confirmation this morning that the AD emergency has been issued," he said, adding that the Director General of Air Transportation is studying and evaluating the AD emergency.

"We will also continue to communicate and coordinate with relevant parties, especially with the KNKT, so that any new information about the JT610 accident investigation can be directly followed up with preventive actions," he said.
