Chief Executive of Pelindo III Doso Agung said Pelindo III would optimize the utilization of its port capacity to serve as national energy distribution gates for Pertamina.
"Synergy in energy distribution, created by the two state companies, will strengthen the national energy security," Doso said after a meeting with Pertamina`s asset management Director M Haryo Yunianto here on Wednesday.
Pelindo III is an operator of strategically located ports for distribution of logistic to serve as logistic bridge between the western and eastern regions of the archipelago, he said.
"The people as the end consumers as well as the users of the services of Pelindo III and Pertamina are expected to benefit from our business synergy," he said.
With the synergy in operation, the two companies could be more efficient in utilizing their resources and potentials, he added.
"The synergy will prevent conflict of interest between the two companies especially as they have common goals of building the nation," he said.
Asset Management Director of Pertamina M Haryo Yunianto said the cooperation will utilize assets as there are common business lines between Pertamina and Pelindo III such as in the logistic assets in ports, ship piloting service and energy.
In addition, Pertamina has a subsidiary holding the license to operate seaports.
"With the focus and utilization of assets, the synergy will be more concrete as they have clear development patterns, including focus on respective specialization with Pertamina in energy and Pelindo in port operation," Haryo said.
Director of Transformation and Business Development of Pelindo III Toto Nugroho said energy strategy that could be carried out immediately was optimization of port facility and land of Pelindo III at Tanjung Intan port in Cilacap to support production of aviation fuel avtur.
In addition, cooperation in the operation of tugboats in a number of ports such as Tanjung Wangi port of Banyuwangi, Tanjung Intan port of Cilacap, Kotabaru port, and Tuban port, could also be carried out.
"The joint operations would be beneficial in efficiency of operations and in increasing availability of service for the users of service," he said.
Vice President Corporate Communication of Pelindo III R Suryo Khasabu said the cooperation constitutes a follow up of cooperation between business lines of Pelindo III and Pertamina already established earlier.
"Such as Pertagas Niaga has already supplied fuel in gas to the Terminal of Teluk Lamong with the concept of environmentally friendly. Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) also has started supplying gas to the JIIPE through Lamong Energi Indonesia. The cooperation to be developed will be bigger in scale both in business and substance to back up national energy security," Suryo cited.
Both Pertagas Niaga and PGN are subsidiaries of Pertamina.
