GEN Global President Jonathan Ortman stated here on Saturday that GEN Indonesia was part of GEN Global.
Ortman vowed to send experts and members of the international community to support GEN Indonesia that is fully managed by Indonesia.
The GEN Indonesia launch also marked Surabaya as an entrepreneurial city in Asia, he pointed out.
GEN Global is a non-profit organization based not only in developed countries but also in developing ones.
GEN Indonesia will develop a network to help create new young entrepreneurs, according to Ortman.
Surabaya has potential for young entrepreneurs to grow further, he stated.
Moreover, Surabaya has a mayor and policies that support it to become an entrepreneurial city not only in Indonesia but also in Asia, he remarked.
"Mrs Risma (Surabaya`s mayor) possesses amazing charismatic leadership qualities. You all are lucky to have a leader like her, which is very rare in this world," he stated.
Tri Rismaharani, the mayor of Surabaya, lauded the launch of GEN Indonesia and the plan to make Surabaya an entrepreneurial city.
Rismaharani vowed to change the mindset of youngsters to encourage them to utilize their talents and skills to become entrepreneurs instead of working as employees.
