Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday (Nov 26) to discuss strategic issues of Indonesian economy.

The meeting was part of Prabowo Subianto`s two-day visit in Singapore.

"This afternoon I have a discussion with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. During the meeting, I discuss a lot of strategic matters, one of which is about economic policies that I will deliver at Gala Dinner of the World in 2019," Prabowo Subianto said in a statement received here on Monday.

The World in 2019 Gala Dinner will be held on Tuesday (Nov 27) in Singapore.

He said The Economist is a distinguished economic magazine in the world. All world leaders read the economic magazine.

The magazine reviews important challenges not only at the country but also at the world level.

The Gerindra (Great Indonesia Movement) Party Chairman stated that The Economist also often discussed the big challenges of leaders of countries and the world such as the availability of food, water and energy.

"I convey my optimism to PM Lee about Indonesia. Along with my running mate Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, I do believe that Indonesia can become a country that exports energy, food, and water," he said.

Prabowo explained that there are many ways that Indonesia can realize the welfare of the nation, one of which, applying new science that focuses on the superiority of the Indonesian people.

"The digitization and industrialization, applying new sciences, focus on our excellence. As a result, we can contribute to overcome world problems," Prabowo said.

If Prabowo wins and becomes the next President of Indonesia, he will carry out technological and scientific cooperation with Singapore and other countries.

"Thus, Indonesia can become a strategic partner for other countries," he said.

Therefore, Indonesia needs to establish cooperation in technological and scientific fields with Singapore and other countries that have developed their industries and have been superior in research and development (R & D).
