Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - Management of the Komodo National Park (KNP) in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara Province, is the authority of the central government, KNP Head Budi Kurniawan remarked here on Thursday.

"As an organization unit for managing the KNP, we are only at the operational level as the executor, but policy making lies in the hands of the central government," Kurniawan stated.

He made this statement in response to a question on the East Nusa Tenggara provincial government`s keenness to be involved in the management of KNP.

"Hence, I think there is a mechanism in the form of cooperation space in accordance with the existing rules," he noted.

In the meantime, East Nusa Tenggara Tourism Office Chief Marius Ardu Djelamu stated separately that the provincial government was keen that the KNP be able to contribute to the locally generated revenue for the province.

"Hence, the governor of East Nusa Tenggara also wants the provincial government, central government, and the West Manggarai district government to take part in the management of the KNP," Djelamu noted.

Thus, the management of the park can also have an economic impact on the people of East Nusa Tenggara.
