The (4.0 industrial revolution) encourages the creation of innovation to make the national manufacturing sector able to compete globally, the minister remarked through his written statement here on Thursday.
"Engineers are creative and innovative people who are used to solving problems. So, the engineers must be able to create innovation in the digital era today," he pointed out at the National Congress and Dialogue of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) in Padang, West Sumatra province.
Meanwhile, the government`s role is to provide facilities and opportunities, Hartarto explained.
There are five main technologies that are keys to the 4.0 industrial implementation, he revealed during the event held under the theme "Enhancing Professionalism in Engineering Resources and Application of Intelligent Technology: Realizing Indonesian Industrial Sovereignty."
The five main technologies are Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Wearable (AR / VR), Advanced Robotics, and 3D Printing.
Thus, Hartarto hoped that the engineers will continue to make a significant contribution to building Indonesia, especially in the development of industrialization.
"Moreover, we hope the manufacturing sector would become the mainstream to drive the national economy," he added.
According to him, another important factor needed, in addition to the use of technology, is preparing competent workforce.
This step has been stated on the road map to make Indonesia (with the 4.0 industrial revolution), in an effort to make Indonesia be included in the ranks of the 10 strongest economies in the world by 2030.
"We have conducted a Training of Trainer (ToT) program on industry 4.0 for all stakeholders from the highest level to the executors," he added.
