Cilegon, Banten, (ANTARA News) - The Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Thomas Trikasih Lembong, said that bilateral relations between Indonesia and South Korea were like a married couple because of their closeness and productivity.

"The people-to-people relationship between our two nations is not like people who are dating, but like a very productive marriage, with so much success," Lembong said in Cilegon on Friday.

Lembong conveyed this during a ceremony held to lay the first stone for the construction of a 3.5 billion US dollar worth of PT Lotte Chemical Indonesia petrochemical complex in Cilegon.

Lembong appreciated the historic procession, which he said was no less remarkable than Psy`s `Gangnam Style` song, which scored got up to 2 billion views on YouTube.

According to him, South Korea has always been the third largest country that has become the largest foreign investor in Indonesia, where its position alternates with Japan and China.

"The Japanese population is three times that of the Korean population, while China`s population is 28 times the population of Korea. But Korea can always compete with Japanese and Chinese investments," Lembong said.

This, he continued, shows that South Korea has a strong commitment in establishing relationships between various sectors with Indonesia.

Lembong hoped that the relations between the two continued to improve, so that they could realize the welfare and economic improvement of the two countries.
