London (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla received the Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award for Government Leadership at the 4th World Muslim Leadership Forum (WMLF) in London.

The special lifetime achievement award for government leadership was received by Kalla`s daughter Muchlisah Jusuf Kalla, representing her father, according to Minister Counselor of the Indonesian Embassy in London, Thomas Siregar, on Saturday.

The WMLF secretary general Dr. Husna Ahmad OBE opened the event, which was held in the Churchill Room (the House of Commons), and welcomed the audience, consisting of various state government officials, politicians, religious leaders, interfaith activists, academics, and researchers.

The UK Minister of State for International Development Affairs, Lord Bates, also attended the event.

The vice president`s daughter, on the occasion, expressed her gratitude to the event organizer, while stating the importance of Muslim leaders around the world to pay attention to the issue of education, development, and peace.

It was said that the three factors were very important fundamentals for building a prosperous society.

Muchlisah then disclosed that community development will not work well without advanced education, while development in the social, economic, cultural, and other fields is impossible without peace.

Apart from that, the 4th World Muslim Leadership Forum also bestowed awards to other figures including Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the category of Democratic Reforms and Shelina Jan Muhammad for her contribution to British Culture.

The 4th WMLF Conference was held for two days on Dec 6 and 7 to discuss various problems faced by Muslims today, such as rectifying various wrong perceptions of some people towards Islam as well as formulating a global mechanism that Muslim leaders around the world can use to collaborate to contribute to the future of a peaceful world.
