"We predict there will be an increase in the number of passengers by around seven percent compared to those during Christmas in 2017," Senior Manager of Branch Communication and Legal at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Febri Toga Simatupang said in a statement received by ANTARA here on Friday.
Meanwhile, the airport management company, Angkasa Pura II, expects that there will be an increase in aircraft movement of around five percent.
The maximum increase in the number of passengers is predicted to occur on January 6, 2019, to as many as 223,556 people, a 16 percent jump from that of the same day in 2018 with 192,726 people.
"The number of passengers during the 2017 Christmas holiday and the 2018 New Year reached 3,511,062 people. While this year, 3,739,314 passengers are predicted to crowd the airport," Febri noted.
He said the management has ensured that all the facilities, security members, services and staff members working at Soekarno-Hatta Airport were ready to welcome the passengers and offer the best services.
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has Airport Operation Control Centers (AOCC) and Terminal Operation Centers (TOC) at Terminal 1, 2 and 3 to supervise all airport operations.
"All the facilities, equipment and air personnel, as well as aviation security and safety staff members have been optimized," Febri said.
Meanwhile, the operation of the 2019 Christmas and New Year Booths will begin on December 20, 2018, until January 6, 2018. They are located in front of Terminal 1B.
To welcome the long holiday, up to now, around 1,393 additional flight schedules have been provided by the airline.
Meanwhile, the number of international flights increased by 73.
"Some favorite holiday destinations are big cities, such as Denpasar, Kualanamu, Surabaya, Yogyakarta and Solo," Febri added.
