As maritime countries, Indonesia and Portugal should enhance collaboration among companies to achieve mutual benefits, Ambassador Wahyutomo remarked at a seminar on Ports and Internationalization Engineering Opportunities in Indonesia held by the Indonesian Embassy in Lisbon.
According to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy received by Antara here, Monday, hundreds of Portuguese investors engaged in the port sector participated in the seminar.
The seminar provided information to Portuguese investors on the investment realities in Indonesia.
Indonesian state-owned company PT Samudera Indonesia was present as a representative of port business actors in Indonesia, while the Ministry of Transportation was in attendance as a representative of the Indonesian government.
Transportation Attach? at the Indonesian Embassy in London Lollan Panjaitan pointed out that Indonesia is a maritime country with abundant human resources, stable economic growth, and a large number of people belonging to the middle class.
According to Panjaitan, development inequality between the western and eastern regions in Indonesia has encouraged the Indonesian government to promote the construction of port infrastructure that is expected to connect all points in the country.
Meanwhile, Head of Economic Research at PT Samudera Indonesia Ibrahim Kholilul Rohman stated that PT Samudera Indonesia had helped develop the business potentials in the port sector in Indonesia.
"Samudera Indonesia is the only private company to build, develop, and operate container ports in Indonesia," he pointed out.
According to Rohman, based on the experience of PT Samudera Indonesia, efficient port governance will help the development of economic diversification, increase employment, lower the prices of goods, and increase trade volume.
At the event, Portuguese investors explored Indonesia`s experiences in managing ports.
