Karanganyar, C Java (ANTARA News) - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi conducted a thorough inspection, or a ramp check, of a number of tourism buses in Taman Balekambang, Tawangmangu, Karanganyar sub-district in Central Java.

"We have come here to ensure that all safety measures are carried out well. Thank God, so far, everything has gone well," he said on the sidelines of a visit to Tawangmangu, Karanganyar Sub-district on Thursday.

He also appreciated the efforts taken by the Police force, including carrying out urine tests on tourism fleet drivers. He believed that it was aimed to ensure that the driver of the vehicle is healthy and worthy of getting on the road.

"It is important that buses and drivers are roadworthy. We also urge them to understand the rules. During the holiday season, this process is carried out intensively," he noted.

One of the focuses of the government, he continued, was tourism buses, considering the high volume of transportation operating during the holidays.

On the same note, he also appealed to all motorcycle riders to be careful and follow the speed limit rules.

"As of now, toll roads have been completed, and the distance between Jakarta and Surabaya can be reached within 8 hours with a maximum speed of 100 kilometers/hour. Do not exceed the speed limit because it can be risky. In an effort to maintain this, we seek assistance from the traffic wardens to provide safety driving advice," he remarked.

Additionally, the Chief Traffic Warden of the Indonesian Police Force, Inspector General Refdi Andri, explained that the facilities and infrastructure that were already built by the government must be accompanied by safely driven vehicles and drivers who abide by the rules.

"For that reason, we appeal to the entire community to ensure safe driving," he added.
