"Normally, three days before the end of year, the beach resorts were crowded with visitors, but now not a single tourist is seen on the locations," Hendra, an operator of the Carita beach resort said on Friday.
The tsunami triggered by big land slides under water following continued eruption and tremors of Anak Krakatau volcano left at least 430 people with many other missing. Hundreds of houses were destroyed and swept away by huge waves. Nine hotels and many vessels were badly damaged.
Business players in tourism suffered badly at the time they have expected to earn handsomely during the year end holidays.
Big waves and continued eruption of Anak Krakatau with rumors of possible repeat of tsunami scared people away from the beach.
Suhendro, the owner of a restaurants at the Carita beach, Pandeglang, said he chose to close down his restaurant.
"Currently we are like farmers suffering total harvest failure. I would lose more if I open my restaurant with no visitor," he said.
Other beach resorts in the coast of Pandeglang like Labuan, Tanjung Lesung as well as the island of Umang looked abandoned without visitors.
"It is not only us and business players in tourism that suffer but also small traders and boat operators have lost their jobs," Suhendro said.
