Tulungagung, E Java (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated four development projects comprising three low-cost apartments (rusunawa) and a bridge in Tulungagung District, East Java Province, on Friday.

"This morning, I inaugurated a rusunawa for students of the Tulungagung Islamic University (IAIN), a rusunawa for students of the Tulungagung Teachers College (STKIP PGRI), a Jepun rusunawa owned by the Tulungagung district administration, and Ngujang II Bridge," President Jokowi stated here, Friday.

Jokowi was accompanied by Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, East Java Governor Soekarwo, and acting District Head of Tulungagung Maryoto Bhirowo during the inauguration ceremony.

He said the government had planned to build 300 rusunawa, including 45 in East Java, during 2019.

"The largest number will be in East Java, as the province is in dire need of rusunawa," he added.

East Java is also the most ready to adapt to living in apartments as compared to other regions, he remarked.

President Jokowi was on a two-day working visit to East Java, and on Friday afternoon, he will head to Central Java.
