Through its official twitter account, the BPPTKG noted that based on observations from 00.00 to 06.00 WIB, a three-time rock falls were recorded. Based on the seismic data, the rock fall lasted for a duration of 22-57 seconds.
The weather on Mount Merapi on Saturday morning was reportedly cloudy despite clear visibility. The wind blew calmly over the mountain, with the air temperature recorded at around 22.5 degrees Celsius, air humidity reached 78 percent RH, while the air pressure was 917.2 Hpa.
Based on the morphology analysis of the Mount Merapi lava dome as of January 22, 2019, released by BPPTKG, the volume of lava domes reached 461 thousand cubic meters, with a growth rate of 1,300 cubic meters per day or smaller than the previous week.
Currently, lava domes are still stable, with a low growth rate, on an average, less than 20 thousand cubic meters per day.
Referring to Merapi`s volcanic activity data, until now, the BPPTKG still maintains the status of Mount Merapi at level II, or Alert, and for the time being, the agency does not recommend climbing activities except for the purposes of investigation and research related to disaster mitigation efforts.
The BPPTKG has urged residents to not conduct activities within a three-kilometer radius of Mount Merapi`s peak.
