"TNI/Polri`s politics is state politics. Therefore, they need to maintain neutrality and, more importantly, ensure smooth elections and peaceful conditions," he stated, after giving directives to the TNI/Polri leadership meeting 2019 at the State Palace here, on Tuesday.
He noted that TNI`s and Polri`s neutrality in the general elections is key to maintaining security and public order.
TNI and Polri must play a solid role in the elections and hold synergy.
"This is badly needed and will happen if TNI and Polri are solid and synergize to maintain security and public order," he remarked.
He further underscored the need for TNI and Polri to respond to the industrial revolution 4.0.
"I only remind them (TNI and Polri) that they must respond to the industrial revolution 4.0," he added.
This also has to do with the use of virtual reality, AI, and 3D printing, which have been developed in other countries in terms of military, he revealed.
Jokowi was accompanied by TNI Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and Polri Chief General Tito Karnavian at the meeting.
