The delay in the planned visit was conveyed by Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah during a press conference while attending the event in Kuantan, Pahang State, on Saturday.
"Just like last night, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi was specifically sent by President Jokowi to meet Prime Minister Mahathir to deliver a letter from President Jokowi apologizing for the delay of his current visit to Malaysia at the end of this month," he noted.
Saifuddin Abdullah remarked that President Jokowi cited the reason for the delay as facing the Presidential Election campaign season in Indonesia.
"There is time but because of certain reasons, the visit is delayed, and we indeed view the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia as important, and we will wait for the new date to be given, and so far, no new date has been given for the visit," he emphasized.
In addition to the postponement of President Jokowi`s visit, Abdullah also informed about the release of 47 Malaysians in Cambodia and were scheduled to arrive at KLIA next Monday as well as the delay in the visit of Saudi Arabia`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, in Circular Letter 00018 / WN / 02/2019/07 dated on February 15, 2019, remarked that the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur praised the enthusiasm shown by the Indonesian people to attend the People`s Party originally scheduled for Sunday, February 24, 2019.
