Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT Bank Central Asia (BCA) Tbk recorded a rise of 10.9 percent in its net profit to Rp25.9 trillion last year, from Rp23.3 trillion a year earlier.

"BCA and subsidiary entities posted positive financial performance growth in 2018 amid the condition of tight liquidity in the banking sector and the upward trend of the interest rate," BCA President Director Jahja Setiaatmadja noted in a press briefing here on Thursday.

The increase in net profit was fueled by BCA`s operating income that grew 10.6 percent to Rp63 trillion in 2018, from Rp57 trillion in 2017.

The net interest income rose 8.3 percent to Rp45.3 trillion, while other operating income grew 17 percent to Rp17.7 trillion.

The bank also witnessed its credit portfolio increasing 15.1 percent to Rp538 trillion, fueled by high demand for business credits. Corporate credits grew 20.4 percent to Rp213.3 trillion in 2018 and commercial credits and small and medium business credits increased 13.4 percent to Rp183.8 trillion.
