Kupang, NTT, (ANTARA) -
Presidential candidate number 01 Joko Widodo revealed that water management through the construction of dams is an ongoing process in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.

"There are seven dams because water is the key to economic growth in NTT," Jokowi said during his political speech at an open campaign at Sitarda Lasiana Field, Kupang City, on Monday afternoon.

According to Jokowi, the government has constructed two dams, namely the Raknamo Dam and the Rotiklot Dam, while five other dams, namely Napung Gete dam, Temef dam, Manikin dam, Wae dam, and Kolhua dam, are undergoing construction.

With the dams it is expected that the community will get an abundant supply of raw water for agriculture and plantations.

During the campaign, Jokowi also revealed three programs he had introduced, namely the Indonesia Smart Card at the college level for the cost of education in college, the Pre-Work Card to obtain free training and incentives for honorariums, and cheap basic food cards for poor families.

"We will spend KIP lectures like this. This is for our children so that all of them can study well; we will offer scholorships at both domestic and foreign universities," said Jokowi.

The Pre-Work Cards, he said, could be obtained by high school or vocational school graduates who will undergo training in ministries, state-owned enterprises, and private institutions to improve their skills and capabilities, so they can get jobs.

"But if they don't get a job, later, the card will have an incentive fee," Jokowi said.

As for the Cheap Food Packages card, they are meant for underprivileged families to buy basic necessities, so that children can receive adequate nutrition.

Indonesia will hold the 2019 elections on April 17, comprising the Presidential Election and the Election of Candidates for Legislative Members.

The two pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates are Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin with serial number 01 and Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno with serial number 02.
