Jakarta (ANTARA) - The governments of Indonesia and the United States have issued a stamp commemorating 70 years of bilateral diplomatic relations, which was officially launched by RI's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs A.M. Fachir here Wednesday.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US Embassy in Jakarta are commemorating the 70 years of diplomatic relations with the theme, Strategic Partnership for Prosperity in Pluralism.

The 70-year commemorative stamp of RI-US diplomatic relations depicts images of leatherback turtles that lay eggs in eastern Indonesia and live on the waters of the west coast of the US.

The species is a reflection of the partnership between Indonesia and the US that crosses the ocean with a hope that both countries will continue to collaborate over the welfare of sthe ociety and the world.

"The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is proud to launch this stamp, the design of which was chosen carefully," Fachir said.

As many as 1,000 stamps will be printed, and one of them will be placed in the Indonesian Stamp Museum.

Rl-US diplomatic relations were officially opened on December 28, 1949, and are now at the Strategic Partnership stage, an important stage for Indonesia and the US to jointly share the responsibility of finding solutions to global challenges, while strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries.

To enliven the 70th anniversary of bilateral relations between the RI and the US, a number of events in Indonesia and the United States have been planned, some of which will be carried out by Indonesian Representatives in the US, and others by US representatives in Indonesia.

The events will be carried out in several cities through cooperation with various universities and local administrations.

All events are aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries, embracing and educating people, and strengthening the foundation of RI-US cooperation to future generations.
