"Let us authorize the KPK to settle any legal issues, particularly those related to corruption."
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) supported the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in naming state electricity company (PT PLN) president director suspect in a graft case involving a cooperation contract for Riau-1 thermal power plant (PLTU) construction.

"We should all give complete authority to the anti-graft body for the settlement of legal disputes, specifically linked to corruption," the president noted after he opened and explored the International Handicraft Trade Fair (Inacraft) 2019 at the Jakarta Convention Center on Wednesday.

The head of state chose not to divulge case-related details though appealing to all sides to extend full approval to the Commission to resolve legal issues, specifically linked to graft.

The KPK named PT PLN president director, identified by his initials as SB, for accepting a bribe from Blackgold Natural Resources shareholder Johannes Budisutrisno Kotjo related to a cooperation contract for building PLTU Riau-1.

"The KPK has unearthed ample preliminary proof on the supposed involvement of other sides in the alleged bribery case regarding a cooperation contract for constructing PLTU Riau-1," KPK Deputy Chairman Saut Situmorang revealed.

Accusations have been leveled against SB for contriving with or facilitating a fired House Commission VII member of the Golkar Party, identified by her initials as EMS, and her colleagues in alleged receipt of gratification or promise from Kotjo over the cooperation contract.
