Manado, N Sulawesi (ANTARA) - North Sulawesi will be looking to push tourism and investment with three leading events from the region finding themselves in the agenda of "100 Wonderful of Event 2019", North Sulawesi Provincial Secretary Edwin Silangen has said. "These three events are the Bunaken Festival, the Tomohon International Flower Festival, and the Lembeh Strait Festival," Silangen revealed here on Wednesday.

These events will present the best of North Sulawesi with regional art products such as tourist attractions, sports, fashion, and food, among others.

"The festival is expected to increase the economy and the investment in North Sulawesi through empowering local people, increasing tourist visits, and the people economy," Silangen remarked.

Silangen expected the Tourism Ministry to list the tourism agenda from other districts and cities in North Sulawesi as well in the list of "100 Wonderful of Event 2019".

Every district and city should have a tourist calendar that can be promoted effectively, such as the Tulude Festival in Kepulauan Sangihe District and Tomini Bay Festival in East Mongondow Bolang District, Silangen noted.

The northern tip of Sulawesi, namely Bunaken National Park, registered the maximum tourists since it was a marine tourist destination, he stated. It is a world-class marine tourism attraction and has become a tourism icon of Manado City.

In addition, North Sulawesi has become a cultural tourism and ecotourism destination with the National Tourism Strategic Areas (KSPN) in Tomohon City and Tondano in Minahasa District and its surroundings.
