C Lombok, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo was impressed with the development of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone in Kuta Village, Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). While observing the progress of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone on Friday, the president stated that the construction of the facilities was of a high standard. "The place should be properly managed from the beginning to maintain its beauty," he said.

During his visit, President Joko Widodo was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, NTB Governor H Zulkieflimansyah, and ITDC President Director Abdulbar M Mansoer.

"President Director, Indonesia Tourism Development Corporate (ITDC), said there are seven hotels and three hotels under construction. The development of facilities is going on well," President Joko Widodo said.

The president also expected that the construction of the MotoGP circuit, starting from the airport should be completed immediately.

"We will build a bypass road. It will be really big compared to the toll road because it is 50 meters wide. The design has been shown to me," he said.

President Joko Widodo opined that the facilities for the MotoGP would be completed in 2020. Thus, MotoGP will be held in 2021.

President Joko Widodo also hoped that the construction of the Mandalika circuit would be a starting point for new economic growth, which could boost the national and local economies.
