Car sales in April 2019 also declined 5 percent, compared to 90,198 units in March, PT Astra International said, quoting data from Gaikindo.
Despite the drop, Toyota, Honda and Suzuki auto manufacturers witnessed sales increases in April.
Toyota reported its sales increasing to 29,546 units in April, from 28,917 units the month before.
Honda's sales jumped 43 percent, from 8,144 units in March to 11.631 units in April, while Suzuki's sales rose from 6.291 units in March to 7,677 units in April.
However, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Daihatsu recorded a decline in car sales in April.
President Director of PT Mitsubishi Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) Naoya Nakamura remarked in Jakarta on Friday night that Mitsubishi has maintained its hold on the Indonesian market through its small multipurpose vehicle Small MPV Xpander, which has become one of the two companies' successes in developing their businesses in Indonesia.
Nakamura remarked that Mitsubishi Xpander has been well-received in Indonesia, with sales hitting a record high 100 thousand units in 18 months.
Cumulatively, domestic car sales in the January-April 2019 period reached 337,892 units, falling 14.3 percent from car sales in the same period last year.
The following are the sales of the five auto manufacturers in Indonesia in April 2019:
