We urge the relevant party to meet the summons as a legal obligation.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) re-examined suspended state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) president director, with the initials SFB, Monday, as graft suspect in the Riau-1 thermal power plant construction contract case.

"The suspect SFB was rescheduled for questioning on Monday morning. We have sent a summons to him," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah confirmed in Jakarta on Monday.

The anti-graft body had earlier sent a written notification of the rescheduled questioning to SFB.

Moreover, the Commission has called on SFB to respond to the summons as his legal obligation.

"We appeal to the relevant party to meet the summons as a legal obligation," he noted.

On Friday (May 24), the KPK had served a summons to SFB that he failed to meet. He instead sent a letter to the KPK requesting the questioning to be rescheduled.

Soesilo Aribowo, SFB's lawyer, clarified that his client was unable to meet the summons since he was also facing the Attorney General's Office's questioning as witness in a graft case pertaining to a generator ship.

"Today, he received two summons simultaneously. The Attorney General's Office also served a summons to Mr SFB as a witness in the case of (graft) related to a generator ship. He could not show up at two places at the same time. It seems that he would meet the summons from the Attorney General's Office," Aribowo remarked on Friday (May 24).

SFB has been interrogated by the KPK as a suspect in the corruption case on Monday (May 6) though was not detained thereafter.

SFB filed a pre-trial suit in the South Jakarta District Court to challenge the KPK's decision to name him a suspect in the graft case, though he later withdrew it.

The anti-graft body had named SFB a suspect in the graft case in connection with the Riau-1 thermal power plant construction contract on Tuesday (Apr 23).

The commission has charged SFB for accepting a bribe from Blackgold Natural Resources shareholder Johannes Budisutrisno Kotjo in connection with the project.
