Untung Basuki, head of the Bali-Nustra customs and excise office, remarked here on Monday that the duo had ingested the illicit drugs.
The Thai nationals landed at the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport at 2 a.m. local time from Bangkok.
PS had swallowed 49 wraps of 528.03 grams of crystal methamphetamine, while AP ingested 51 wraps of 554.45 grams weight. The Police detected the illicit drugs after the two suspects underwent x-ray screening.
The drugs were lethal and could potentially kill them if the wraps had disintegrated in the stomach.
The smuggled crystal methamphetamine, weighing 989.66 grams, was valued at Rp1,484,490,000 and intended for consumption of 4,947 people.
The duo had each been paid 15 thousand Thai Baht to smuggle the banned drug into Indonesia.
The two Thai suspects are liable to serve a nearly 20-year prison term and be fined a maximum of Rp10 billion.
