PT Pelindo IV's Free Homecoming Team has readied 21 ports for the Idul Fitri 1440 Hajj pilgrimage, with the aim of serving three thousand travelers.

Managing Director of PT Pelindo IV Makassar Farid Padang made the statement in connection with the free homecoming program through the port door in Makassar on Thursday.

The 21 ports in the Pelindo IV area serving free trips are Makassar, Bitung, Pantoloan, Kendari, Gorontalo, Parepare, Tolitoli, Manado, Balikpapan, Samarinda, Tarakan, Nunukan, Tanjung Redeb, Ambon, Ternate, Sorong, Jayapura, Biak, Manokwari, Merauke, and Fakfak Port.

"For this year's Free Mudik Program, we have readied 88 buses and 27 fast boats.

"The participants are homecoming passengers and people around the port," Farid revealed.

Farid pointed out that during Idul Fitri 1439 H/201 M homecoming, most ship activities were centered in the ports of Manado, Nunukan, and Kendari for inter-island ferry transportation, with a total of 1,232 units.

In the meantime, most passengers, reaching 386,619 people, embarked through the ports of Makassar, Balikpapan, Ambon, Parepare, Kendari, and Nunukan.

"Some 324,657 people debarked through the ports of Makassar, Parepare, Balikpapan, Ambon and Kendari," he noted.

He also pointed out that the realization of Eid Mubarak holiday was highest through the ports of Makassar, Balikpapan, and Parepare, with a total of 634,392 passengers in 2017, followed by 711,276 passengers in 2018, and 756,549 passengers estimated this year.

Farid stated that generally the "peak season" or the peak of Eid homecoming was on H - 15 and H + 15 or for a month.

He did admit to problems surfacing every time around the Lebaran holiday, particularly around the port area. Hence, his side has synergized efforts with several parties for always readying the Integrated Idol Fitri 1440 H Post for the related parties in the port area.

Furthermore, he had always made several preparations related to the Eid Al-Fitr activities this year. For instance, for personnel, it had set up a Team of Integrated Pelko IV Pelindo IV, Pelni, KSOP, Police, Port Health, and other relevant agencies.

"We also set up an internal team of PT Pelindo IV to conduct direct monitoring or supervision on the field," Farid added.
