Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA) - Chief of the Indonesian Police (Polri), General Tito Karnavian, said that the political situation was cooling off ahead of the Eid Al-FItr Islamic festivities.

"I thank the political elites. Political communication should be continuously built during the Holy Month (Ramadhan)," Karnavian said here on Friday.

Political communication should be built incessantly because it could calm the political tension up to the grassroots level, and the Indonesian community would not be divided.

Terrorism remains a focus of the Indonesian Police during the holiday season, he pointed out.

Conventional crimes, however, should also receive attention, he added.

Polri and the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) have established a synergy and shared a security system.

He cited the example of unarmed police personnel who would be accompanied by armed personnel while on duty.

The authorities have also made a map of regions prone to crimes.
