Beijing (ANTARA) - A student from Nunukan, North Kalimantan, Yakomina Boimau, needed medical expenses at a hospital in Jiangsu Province, China, for her pneumonia.

"We have visited Yakomina at the Taizhou People’s Hospital in Jiangsu Province," said Wandi Adriano, head of the Consular Affairs at the Indonesian Consulate General in Shanghai, on Sunday.

The third-grade student of Jiangsu Agri-Animal Husbandry Vocational College (JAHV) is known to suffer from "hypoalbuminemia" or acute pneumonia.

The Indonesian Consulate General had received information from the hospital doctors team accompanied by JAHV instructors that the medical team was working to restore the patient's condition so that he could return to Indonesia at Yakomina's request.

"Yakomina's unstable health condition does not allow her to be returned to her hometown because she still needs time and intensive care," Wandi said.

The JAHV also asked the Indonesian Consulate General to pay attention to the completion of Yakomina's maintenance costs, considering that the insurance had exceeded the limit and was no longer valid.

Yakomina herself came from a poor family in Nunukan.

The Indonesian Consulate General and friends of Yakomina and the Indonesian Student Association in China (PPIT) are currently raising funds for hospital care.

"We, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are also coordinating with the North Kalimantan provincial administration to get additional funding for Yakomina's care," Wandi added.
