Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The task force of the Wanara Sakti 643 Mechanical Battalion has foiled an attempt to smuggle in second clothes worth Rp50 million from Malaysia at Berjongkok highway in Sambas district, West Kalimantan province over the weekend.

Commander of the mechanical battalion Infantry Major Agung Prihanto said on Monday the task force confiscated 18 sacks of second clothes aboard a truck from a resident of Sanggau Ledo of Bangkayang district.

"The seizure occurred on Friday at around 18.00 WIB (West Standard Indonesia Time) when a suspicious truck was moving past the Pantas Berjongkok task force post from Jagoi Babang to Sambas," he said quoting a report from commander of the company I of the task force First Lieutenant Frelly Selvizar

The security personnel found the second clothes when they checked the truck. Since the owner of the clothes failed to produce an official document they confiscated the truck and arrested the suspect identified by his initials as AH for further legal process.

"When AH was questioned, he confirmed that the clothes came from Malaysia and would be sold in Tebas sub-district, Sambas district and surrounding areas,"he said.

According to him, second clothes are among the goods subjected to import ban pursuant to the trade minister's regulation number 51 of 2015 on the grounds imported second clothes are hazardous to human health.
