Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA) - East Java Deputy Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak urged locals to stay calm in response to an explosion at the Tugu Tani Kartasura Toll Security Post, Sukoharjo District, Central Java, on Monday (June 3) night.

"Nothing in gained when the people panic, and all must stay calm," he remarked in Surabaya on Tuesday.

Dardak noted that the authorities are believed to be undertaking security measures and ensuring the safety of the community, so all parties are expected to leave matters entirely up to the officers.

Daily, especially prior to this year's Eid al-Fitr, security forces have adopted various measures to secure all regions in the country.

"The police, military, and other relevant officials must give special attention, and we must trust them," he noted.

Despite the incident not occurring in East Java, he also called on residents in the area to avoid becoming provoked and harboring concerns before the Eid al-Fitr 1440 Hijri.

"The susceptible zones are overcrowded areas, especially the regional capitals. However, once again, entrust all matters on the apparatus that is certain to guarantee the security and comfort of its citizens," Dardak noted.

A suicide bombing attack occurred in front of the Tugu Kartasura security post allegedly by an individual.

According to officers, following the explosion, the man, suspected of being the perpetrator, was referred to the Orthopedic Hospital on Jalan Slamet Riyadi before finally being treated at Moewardi General Hospital in Solo since his condition was critical after diagnosis.

Around 00.26 WIB, the Central Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Rycko Amelza Dahniel went to the scene with the Diponegoro Regional Commander Major General TNI Mochammad Efendy.

The police chief remarked that the explosion was a targeted attack on police officers and urged the public to not panic and continue with their activities.
