A joint team of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) office in Biak Numfor district, Papua province, is continuing to search for three people who went missing following a longboat accident.

"The SAR team has yet to find the three missing people on the fourth day of the search. They will continue their search on Thursday," Chief of Basarnas Office in Biak, Melkianus, said on Wednesday night.

On the fourth day of searching on Wednesday (June 12, 2019), the SAR team returned to the command post at 05.50 p.m., he said.

The longboat, traveling between Nabire and Kampung Keuw in Wapoga district, crashed into wood and capsized, killing two people. Six people survived the accident, while three others remain missing.

The joint team comprises rescue workers from the Nabire SAR rescue post, water police, police precincts, relatives of victims and local residents.

To assist in the search for the three missing passengers, the SAR joint team mobilized a longboat, personnel truck and Rescue SAR center.
