Kendari (ANTARA) - National Defense Forces (TNI) Commander Marshal Hadi Tjajanto and National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian visited North Konawe in Southeast Sulawesi Province to evaluate measures to handle the impact of the disaster that had hit the region.

At Haluoleo Kendari Airport, prior to departing for the location where the natural disaster had struck, Southeast Sulawesi Governor Ali Mazi updated the TNI commander and police chief over efforts in handling floods that had hit North Konawe Konawe, East Kolaka, South Konaw, and Kendari City and social disasters striking Sampuabalo Village and Gunung Jaya Village, Siontapina, Buton District.

The governor, TNI commander, and the National Police head along with the group then departed from North Konawe aboard four helicopters.

The group comprised Commander of the XIV Hasanuddin, the head of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, Danrem 143 Haluoleo, and high-ranking TNI and Polri officers.

Military Resort Commander (Danrem) 143 Haluoleo Colonel Yustinus Nono Yulianto, as commander of the Disaster Emergency Response Command, noted that the TNI, Polri, Search and Rescue National Agency (Basarnas), National Disaster Management Agency, Regional Disaster Management Agency, and donors and volunteers collaborated to assist victims of natural disasters and social disasters.

"Natural disasters and social conflicts in Buton have been handled appropriately until now," the Danrem, accompanied by the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Chief Brigadier General Iriyanto and Chair of the Southeast Sulawesi Legislative Assembly (DPRD) Abdurrahman Saleh, stated.
