The victim was found floating in the water and being evacuated to the clinic of ADP Taliabu Corp.
Taliabu (ANTARA) - The Search and Rescue (SAR) team found one dead victim of a burned ship that carried fuel in Taliabu Island, North Maluku Province, on Sunday at about 9:00 local time. The victim was identified as Tri Loka Bagaskara (25 years old).

"The victim was found floating on the waters and rushed to the clinic of ADP Taliabu Corp.," the Head of National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) of Ternate Muhammad Arafah, said in Ternate on Sunday.

After this evacuation of the victim, personnel of the joint SAR team will be returned to their divisions, Arafah added.

Basarnas Ternate received the information that Fajrul Putra Motor Ship with the capacity of 53 gross tonnages was burning in Lede District water area on Saturday, June 29, at about 3:30 local time.

The ship was on fire during the process of fuel transfer from the tank into the ship by pumping machine. Hose of that pumping machine was unplugged so that fuel flowing into exhaust part and causing the blaze.

All of the ship crews were trying to flee and putting out the fire before the rescue team was arriving at 4:12 local time but the ship was burned down. The team evacuates victims to Community Health Centre of Lede District.

There are five surviving victims, namely Mukhtar (captain, 55), Jufri (crew member,35), Ali (crew member,52), Iki (crew member, 30), and ship owner Romy who suffered burn injury.
