"I invite Mr. Ma'ruf (Amin) to come here on Thursday. This is firstly to furnish information to him regarding the tasks to be conducted, facilities to be given as vice president, and problems he should address," Kalla remarked at his office on Tuesday.
For the upcoming meeting, Kalla will share with Amin his experiences as vice president for two terms, specifically during the 2004-2009 period with former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and during the 2014-2019 period with incumbent Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
Amin was elected as the Indonesian vice president for the 2019-2024 period to accompany President Jokowi. The pair won the 2019 Presidential Election, with 85,607,362 votes, according to data from the General Election Commissions (KPU).
Based on the 1945 Constitution, the vice president was tasked with assisting the president in fulfilling state duties. The vice president can also assume the position of president until his term of office ends if the president were to die, quit, be dismissed, or is not in a position to fulfill his obligations.
The vice president is also authorized to resolve issues pertaining to the people's welfare along with conducting operational supervision of development with the help of ministries and non-ministerial government institutions.
