Jakarta (ANTARA) - The residents of Lancang Island, Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta, were shocked to discover three pythons in their neighborhood Monday. The report about the snakes was received at around 1:00 pm local time, Head of North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire Mitigation and Rescue Department Satriadi Gunawan said.

"After receiving the report from the community health center at Lancang Island, our officers went straight to the location by a local-owned car," he said in a statement Tuesday.

Three firemen then caught and evacuated two pythons which measured 4 meters (m) in length with a diameter of 40 centimeters (cm) and the third which was 3m long and a 20cm in diameter at around 5:00 p.m. local time.

"The evacuation was conducted by traditional equipment, such as bamboos and ropes," Gunawan stated.
