"To end this message, I will deliver some instructions as a guideline for carrying out the tasks. First, the National Police should continue to improve quality of human resources to face the task challenges," President Joko Widodo said while acting as an inspector of a ceremony to celebrate the National Police's 73rd anniversary at the National Monument on Wednesday.
"Second, the national police should put forward the proactive and preventive strategy with humanistic approaches and actions. Third, the police should continue to improve the public services quality that is modern, easy, and fast," the president continued.
Fourth, the national police should increase professionalism and transparency in the field of law enforcement and provide a sense of justice to people. "Fifth, the national police should strengthen the coordination with institutions, national army (TNI), ministry, and regional government as well as people in maintaining security and social order," Widodo affirmed.
On behalf of the people, nation, and state, President also conveyed his congratulations on the National Police's 73rd anniversary.
"I believe that the national police (Polri) will continue to build Indonesia. I also want to thank and give the highest appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the Polri in maintaining security and order, upholding the law, as well as providing services to the people," the president stated.
Then, Widodo called on the participants to pray for every police officer who was injured.
The ceremony was also attended by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, Vice President Jusuf Kalla, National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and Vice President elected Ma'ruf Amin.
