This agreement came after coffee, tea, cocoa, and Indonesian palm oil derivative products were exhibited and promoted at the 2019 Pacific Exhibition in Auckland, New Zealand.Auckland (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Plantation Companies Association (GPPI) claimed that packaged coffee products of Kapal Api brand will be sold officially to supermarkets in New Zealand.
The association's general chairperson, Delima H. A. Darmawan, told Antara in Auckland on Monday that supermarket chains in New Zealand, including Count Down, had sought to sell ready-to-use products of Kapal Api.
"This agreement was reached after coffee, tea, cocoa, and Indonesian palm oil derivative products were showcased and promoted at the 2019 Pacific Exhibition in Auckland, New Zealand," she stated.
Darmawan noted that at one of the Pacific Exposition 2019 forums of Business Matching, several delegates from the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and New Zealand had expressed interest in the products.
"Moreover, we sought help from Indonesian diaspora partners in Wellington and Australia to participate in promoting those products," Darmawan noted.
The association's general chairperson noted that a memorandum of understanding was inked with several coffee roasters keen on importing "green bean" products from GPPI.
"Hence, to follow up on the agreement reached at the Pacific Exposition 2019 in Auckland, we plan to hold a coffee origin trip and work with private companies in New Zealand," she stated, adding that the program was aimed at inviting buyers to witness up-close the coffee, tea, and cocoa plantations in Indonesia.
The program is expected to promote Indonesian products and boost their popularity in the Pacific region. Related news: Connecting goods and people of Pacific, Southeast Asia
