Manokwari (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is focusing on preventing corruption in West Papua Province, West Papua Regional Secretary Nataniel Mandacan said in Manokwari Tuesday. "Later, on August 1, the KPK team will come again. The arrival of the team to monitor and evaluate corruption prevention actions has been agreed upon by the regional heads," Mandacan said.

The KPK is quite serious about targeting corruption in West Papua. Last week, a different team from the KPK came to Manokwari and encouraged state officials to submit reports about their wealth (LHKPN).

On that occasion, the team guided the officials on the LHKPN E-Filling at the provincial Inspectorate Office in Manokwari. The regional heads attended and participated in the activity.

"The team that will come in August will be from the Regional Office IX of the KPK in North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Maluku and North Maluku, Papua and West Papua. They consist of prevention and enforcement," Mandacan said.

The Regional Secretary appealed to the Regional Apparatuses Organisation (OPD) leaders to prepare the required data, which included information related to the management of local government assets and administration of all activities.

"The KPK wants to know whether local governments including districts/cities are serious about preventing corruption. That can be seen from asset management and administration, including licensing and compliance related to LHKPN," Nataniel added.

Mandacan hoped that the presence of the KPK team which was at present only monitoring and evaluating, would not be taken lightly by government officials who did not implement asset management and budget accountability properly.

"Prevention will record if something is not right. Also remember, in the group, there was an area of prosecution, they would also take notes. The OPD leaders must attend the meeting later," Mandacan reminded.
