People, including tourists and climbers, have been warned to not approach the top of Mount Tangkuban Parahu as far as 500 meters from the edge  of the crater.
Bandung (ANTARA) - West Java Province's Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that despite Mount Tangkuban Parahu’s status being normal on Monday, 8:30 a.m. local time, people, including tourists and climbers, are barred from approaching Ratu Tangkuban Parahu’s crater.

"The monitoring conducted on July 29, 2019, at 8:30 a.m. local time, shows Mount Tangkuban Parahu at level 1, which means normal," Head of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Section at West Java's agency Budi Budiman Wahyu stated here, Monday.

He noted that monitoring through seismographs indicate tremor amplitudes of between 0.5 to four (dominated by one amplitude) are still occurring on the mountain whose area covers the districts of West Bandung and Subang.

"People, including tourists and climbers, have been warned to not approach the top of Mount Tangkuban Parahu as far as 500 meters from the edge of the crater," Wahyu noted, adding that the status of Mount Tangkuban Parahu on Sunday night (July 28) was declared normal.

The status was based on monitoring at the Mount Tangkuban Parahu Post on Sunday (July 28) at 19:45 local time.

However, the BPBD of the districts of West Bandung and Subang remain on standby for emergency alert of Mount Tangkuban Parahu’s eruption.

"We also continue to coordinate with the monitoring post of Mount Tangkuban Parahu, under the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation of the Geological Agency, until the time to be set further by the field commander based on daily monitoring," Wahyu added.
