We have to find new ways, new methods to solve national problems if we want to move forward to become a strong and independent countryJakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia must keep developing, adapt to change, increase productivity and innovate to become competitive, Director General of Innovation Strengthening of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Jumain Appe said.
"We have to find new ways, new methods to solve national problems if we want to move forward to become a strong and independent country," he said here on Monday.
Indonesia must rely on science and technology-based development and innovation for development in the future, he added.
The use and development of science and technology can be a source of community income because it can add value to the products produced.
"We know that some developed countries such as South Korea, Singapore and several European countries who do not have sufficient natural resources, can develop their country and make it independent. They build their countries with human and scientific resources and technology and innovation," he explained.
To make good use of science, technology and innovation, various stakeholders must also play a role in utilizing science, technology and innovation through the triple helix scheme through synergy and cooperation between academics and or research and development institutions, government, industry and involving the community.
"The synergy of the four stakeholders is very important for us to encourage the development of the country and region. I think this also encourages high productivity which makes the competitiveness of a country and region higher," he said.
The ecosystem of the science and technology development and innovation must also be supported by the use of innovative products in fulfilling Indonesia’s domestic needs.
