Jakarta (ANTARA) - South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Kim Chang Beom will promote his country's culture, tourism and traditional food in the five Indonesian cities of Jakarta, Cirebon, Brebes, Solo, and Surabaya.

Minister of the South Korean Embassy in Jakarta Jeon Joyoung revealed the event entitled Korean Friend to Java, known as "Teko Nang Jawa" in Javanese Language " will be carried out for six days from September 2 to 7.

"The Ambassador will lead a delegation tour to each of the cities and will hold various events to introduce Korean culture," Minister Joyoung said during an exclusive interview with Antara at Wisma Antara building in Jakarta on Thursday.

Kim Chang Beom and entourage will travel over 1,000 km from Jakarta to Cirebon, Brebes, Solo and Surabaya.

Minister Joyoung explained the event dubbed "TeKo Nang Jawa" was held to promote South Korean culture to several provinces in Java.

Most of citizens in Jakarta had easy access to see the culture of South Korea, he said.

"Citizens in Jakarta may have known Korean culture for a long time, but that is not the case with people from other provinces in Indonesia to enjoy our culture. Therefore, the ambassador intends to invite other citizens in the event," he said.

Based on the official website of Korean culture (korean-culture.org), "TeKo Nang Java" is free of charge and the community can attend the event without registration.
Various activities will highlight the event including dance and sing, Indonesian and Korean traditional dances, eating competitions, fashion performances, taekwondo, traditional dress performances, games and guest star performances from Sinister, Coming Soon and Shining Diamond.

The event was presented by the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the Korean Cultural Center Indonesia, and Fortune Entertainment.
