According to an Antara journalist’s observation, the demonstrators launched stones at shops and office buildings and lit tires on the streets they marched.
The police, with the military‘s assistance, deployed tear gas to drive out demonstrators, who had
committed anarchic acts, with some of them retreating.
Security personnel had placed barbed wire at vital locations along the street from Abepura to Jayapura where the rioters were marching.
