Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) acted as inspector of a ceremony at a function held to commemorate Pancasila Sanctity Day at the Pancasila Sakti Monument, East Jakarta, on Tuesday.

The president and First Lady Iriana arrived at the venue of the ceremony at 7:50 a.m. local time. Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla and spouse also attended the event.

Constitutional Court (MK) Chairman Anwar Usman, Chief of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto, Chief of National Police General Tito Karnavian, Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Education and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy were also present at the ceremony.

Several high-ranking officials and military and police officers as well as foreign countries' representatives and scouts were also attendees at the ceremony.

Chairman of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) Oesman Sapta Odang read out the text of the Pancasila state ideology, while Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan read out the text of the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution (UUD 1945), whereas House Speaker Bambang Soesatyo read out and signed a declaration, and Minister Effendy said prayers.

After the ceremony, President Jokowi and other officials paid a visit to Lubang Buaya, which literally means crocodile's pit, where several generals or revolution heroes were killed and their bodies dumped into the well by communist party members on September 30, 1965.
