To help victims of repression, the Wahli chapter in South Sumatra has also formed a command post and readied legal aid to serve complaints linked to repression.

Thousands of students staged a rally in front of the South Sumatra Provincial Legislative Assembly Building on Sept 24 to express their rejection to the attempt of the government and lawmakers to weaken the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in any form.

During the rally, the students also censured the penal code and agrarian, mineral and coal and manpower bills as well as rejected violence in Papua Province. They were also critical of the government, as they believed it was slow in handling land and forest fires in the country.
