Pandeglang, Banten (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto sustained injuries after being stabbed by a man at Menes Square area of Purwaraja Village, Menes Subdistrict, Pandeglang District, Banten Province, on Thursday.

National Police Spokesman Brig.Gen.Dedi Prasetyo confirmed the attack on Wiranto, and the Pandeglang district administration would brief the journalists on the incident.

Wiranto who was protected by his assistant when being attacked with a knife had been hospitalised at Pandeglang District's Berkah Public Hospital. Many policemen were stationed at the hospital.

ANTARA learned that a helicopter has been on standby at the Pandeglang Square for evacuating Wiranto to Jakarta.
